Ruth Shibla Barry, 85, of Fernandina Beach, Fla., passed away January 26, 2018 in Jacksonville, Fla.
Born in Neptune City, N.J., she was a daughter of the late Otto and Helen Layton Shibla.
Mrs. Barry had retired from Bell Atlantic, formerly New Jersey Bell, where she was a dispatch operator. After retirement, she and her husband, George B. Barry, relocated to Fernandina Beach. While visiting their son, Richard, Mr. Barry was fishing near his son’s home in Oyster Bay and caught a large mouth bass in a pond. Catching the fish changed their plans and they moved to Oyster Bay and became active in the community there.
After Mr. Barry’s passing in 2005, Mrs. Barry continued to make her home in Oyster Bay until health concerns brought about changes in her residence.
Mrs. Barry is survived by her two sons, Richard Barry and his companion, JoAnn Secero, of St. Marys, Ga., and Brian Barry of Ocean Township, N.J., as well as other extended family members.
Mrs. Barry will be returned to her native Neptune City, where she will be laid to rest in Hamilton Cemetery.
