Oliver Conway Rowe, 78, of Fernandina Beach, Fla., passed away Tuesday, April 3, 2018 at Baptist Medical Center Nassau.
He was born on July 10, 1939 in Callahan, Fla. to the late Marcus and Maude (Cowart) Rowe.
Mr. Rowe joined the U.S. Marine Corps in 1956 and served honorably until 1958. He then worked as a shrimper on the east and west coasts of Florida and off the Texas coast. He was also employed by Terminal Bag in Yulee, Fla. and Container Corporation in Fernandina Beach. Oliver retired from Flagship Property Management.
He loved fishing, the Florida State Seminoles and the Tampa Bay Rays.
He leaves behind his loving wife of 50 years, Betty Jean McCarthy Rowe; sons, Brian (Dawn) Rowe and Michael (Christy) Gordon; grandchildren, Hannah Patrick, Blake Rowe, Jon-Michael Gordon, Crystal Gordon, Lindsay Albritton, and Logan Stevenson; three great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, Terry (Jill) McCarthy; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A celebration of his life was held at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 7, 2018 at the home of his son.
