
Dorothy Marie Lasker, 83, of Fernandina Beach, Fla., passed away Sunday, June 17, 2018 at her home.
Born in Lake Charles, La., she was a daughter of the late Benjamin E. and Hazel Lauglin Bass.
In her earlier years, she had operated a retail clothing store in Kirtland, Ohio. As her children were finishing high school, she returned to college and obtained her bachelor’s degree. With that degree, she began her career in social work.
She loved making pottery and was an avid genealogy researcher. Until her later years, she was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
She moved to Fernandina Beach from The Villages six years ago. She had retired from the Florida Department of Children and Families. She had been a social worker through much of her later adult life.
Her surviving family includes her two sons, Craig Lasker and his wife, Carolyn, of Fernandina Beach, and Drew Lasker and his wife, Mia, of Moscow, Russia; a brother, Benjamin E. Bass Jr. of Lake Charles; seven grandchildren; and five great grandchildren. She also leaves behind her beloved dog, Buddy.
Her family will remember and celebrate her life in a small private service at a later date.
