Dobbie Lee John Sr., 93, peacefully passed away September 14, 2018.
Lee was born in Jacksonville Fla. and was the son of the late Albert John and Annie John. He was a graduate of Landon High School in 1944. In 1945, he married the love of his life, the late Betty Bennion John. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and owned San Jose Foods on St. Augustine Road for more than 20 years.
To cherish his memory, he leaves two sons, Dobbie L. John Jr. (Jeanne) and Richard L. John; two grandsons, Dobbie L. John III (Natalie) and Jeffrey L. John; two great-granddaughters, Madison and McKenzie John; one brother, Ralph John Sr.; and a number of nieces and nephews.
A special thanks to the caring professionals Dr. Babita Jyoti and the staff at Ackerman Cancer Center, Dr. Russell Smith at Baptist MD Anderson Cancer Center, the seventh floor Weaver Tower staff and nurses, the ICU at Baptist MD Anderson and the entire staff at Community Hospice, Jacksonville.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, October 5, 2018 at Greenlawn Cemetery, 4300 Beach Blvd., Jacksonville. A reception will follow immediately after the service.
