Gertrude (Trudy) Wilmarth Northey, 94, of Fernandina Beach passed away Saturday morning, June 18, 2016.
Mrs. Northey was born January 19, 1922 in Haverhill, MA and moved to Fernandina Beach in 1963.
She was a member of First Baptist Church of Fernandina Beach and was active as a volunteer with the Barnabas Center. She was a member of AARP.
Mrs. Northey was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She loved music and dancing and travelled all over the world. She also enjoyed cooking and stamp collecting.
She was predeceased by a brother, Stanley Wilmarth and by two brothers in law, Ralph Northey and Richard Northey.
Survivors include Her husband of 69 years, Thomas J. Northey, Sr. of Fernandina Beach, FL; a son, and daughter in law, Thomas J. Northey, Jr. and Amey Wall Northey of Yulee, FL; a daughter and son in law, Sue Ellen and Richard Andrews of Brighton, MI; brother and sister in law, Paul and Gretchen Wilmarth; sister in law, Mary Northey; brothers in law, Donald Northey and James Northey; two grandchildren, James T. Northey and Jill Andrews; and one great grandchild, Nathan R. Dukes.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday June 28, in the Stephens Chapel at Green Pine Funeral Home. Her interment will be in the Jacksonville National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial donations be made to Community Hospice of Northeast Florida, 4266 Sunbeam Rd., Jacksonville, FL 32257.
