Robert Glenn Myers Jr., 92, passed away peacefully December 7, 2018 at his home in Fernandina Beach, Fla. with the Lord. He was born January 11, 1926 in Adel, Ga. to Robert Glenn Myers and Audrey Mae Graddy Myers. He graduated from Bacon County High School in Alma, Ga. and lived most of his life in Green Cove Springs, Fla. and Hiawassee and Blue Ridge, Ga.

Robert was a loving and devoted husband to his wife, Madylen, for 62 years and was a committed member of churches wherever he lived. He served as church deacon, church treasurer, choir member and occasionally led the singing in various churches over six decades. Robert and Madylen were founding members of the Orange Avenue Baptist Church in Green Cove Springs in 1960. His most recent church was the First Baptist Church of Epworth, Ga. He also loved a good joke and frequently passed them along to his pastors to keep their sermons lively but hopefully short. Robert also served honorably in the U.S. Army in World War II in the European Theater as a combat infantryman.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Madylen McCrea Myers of Alma, in 2012.

He is survived by his son, Gary Alan Myers of Fernandina Beach; grandsons, Casey McCrea Myers and Carson Anthony Myers, both of Atlanta; and great-grandchildren, Natalie, Nicholas, Jackson and Joseph Myers.

A graveside service in honor of Robert will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, December 14, 2018 at Douglas Chapel in Nicholls, Ga.

The family asks that Robert be remembered with donations to Douglas Chapel at 177 Douglas Chapel Road, Nicholls, GA 31554, where Robert and Madylen first met in a Sunday school class taught my Madylen’s mother, Mattie McCrea.
