
Miln Stanley (Stan) Brocklebank passed away Thursday, January 10, 2019 at Community Hospice & Palliative Care’s Warner Center for Caring in Fernandina Beach, Fla. at the age of 95.
He was born May 25, 1923 in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. He graduated from Upper Canada College and attended McMaster University until he was called to serve in the Royal Canadian Air Force. He saw active duty at the Battle of the Bulge and was a decorated Liberator. Many of his photographs are displayed at the Holocaust Museum in Washington, D.C.
Stan moved from Canada to South Florida in 1955. He was the sole proprietor of a successful irrigation, real estate and contracting enterprise. He met his future wife, Lou, and they were married in Light House Point, Florida on July 1,1978.
In 1979, they moved to Atlanta, and began traveling to many parts of the world. Stan also enjoyed “boys” motorcycle trips, photography and woodworking. He was an accomplished archer.
They summered for 40 years at the cottage he built in the Haliburton Highlands on Little Hawk Lake, Ontario.
His quick wit, funny one-liners and his twinkling blue eyes endeared him to everyone. Stan was kind, generous, and always a gentleman.
Stan was predeceased by his parents, Clarence and Hyacynth Brocklebank, and his sister, Marian, of Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
He is survived by his loving wife, Margaret (Lou) Tyson Brocklebank, of 42 years. Stan is lovingly remembered by his son, David of Vancouver, Canada; his stepdaughter, Jo Tyson; his daughter-in-law, Jackie Tyson; his grandchildren, Georgia, Chip, Amber, and Brandon; and great-granddaughter, Olivia.
The funeral will be at held at 11 a.m. Friday, January 18, 2019 at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church. A reception will follow in Burns Hall.
In lieu of flowers, those who so desire may make donations in memory of Stan to the charity of your choice or to St. Peter’s Episcopal Church.
