Jessica Lee Firster, 47, of Fernandina Beach, Fla., passed away Tuesday, January 22, 2019.
Born December 11, 1971 in Silver Spring, Md., she was the daughter of Jack Prince and Mary Helene Beane.
She was raised in Jacksonville, Fla. and graduated from Terry Parker High School. She worked as a relocation specialist for The Suddath Company.
She and her husband, Bruce, moved to Fernandina Beach in June 2017 from Callahan. They fell in love with everything about the community and spent so much time on the island that they decided to start a new chapter of their lives in Jessica’s forever home.
Jessica loved her family and friends and was always willing to put the needs of others before her own; she would do anything to help anyone at any time. Jessica made everyone’s day a little better with just a smile or by sharing a laugh. She was outgoing and always loved meeting new people and seeing new places. Jessica loved life, and a simple stroll downtown to hear local musicians, taking day trips with her family, or spending time with friends just to have a drink and dinner made her happy.
She leaves behind her best friend and husband of 24 years, Bruce Firster; her children, Kyle and Emily Firster, both of Fernandina Beach; her mother, Mary Helene Beane of Jacksonville; her father, Jack Prince of Laurel, Md.; and her sister, Kristine Scratch of Jacksonville, as well as many extended family members and friends.
Family and friends will gather to celebrate and remember her life at 2 p.m. Saturday, February 2, 2019 in the Burgess Chapel of Oxley-Heard Funeral Directors. Chaplain Jim Tippins of Baptist Medical Center Nassau will officiate. The family will receive friends and loved ones beginning at 1:30 p.m.
Those desiring may make contributions in Jessica’s memory to The Children’s Tumor Foundation at 120 Wall St., New York City, NY 10005 or ctf.org.
