Tena Christine Hilton Swords, age 57, passed away July 9th 2016 at Community Hospice of NE Florida Fernandina Beach, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born to Marlene Lott Hilton and Samuel C Hilton on February 25th 1959 in Jacksonville Florida.
Tena was a loving lifelong caregiver to two generations of family and friends. She was known for her caring and compassionate attitude toward others. She loved to laugh and was as happy playing with her grandchildren as she was caring for an aging relative. She had a gentle soul and a humble spirit.
Tena is preceded in death by her parents
and one uncle, Claude Neal Lott. Tena is survived by her beloved daughter Amanda Willis Duncan
and her three grandchildren Tristan, Alex and Katie Duncan all of Fernandina Beach. Her sisters Norma Hilton Falbo (Mark) of Jacksonville Fla, Diane Hilton Hollis of Byron Ga, Pamela Hilton Moody of Jacksonville, Fla and one
brother Christopher Hilton of Arabi, Ga, and
one aunt, Pat Long of Tifton Georgia, along with many nieces, nephews, cousins and extended
family.
The hole Tena leaves in our hearts and lives is immeasurable, but we rest in the assurance that she is in her Heavenly home and that she is now cancer free. Our lives were truly blessed by the love she gave to us all and we will forever carry her loving legacy with us.
The family would like to express our great appreciation for the doctors and nurses of Community Hospice of NE Florida, Fernandina Beach, for their vigilance and their caring compassion for Tena during the last week of her life. We also thank them for the support and care they showed for our family as well.
