
William C. “Bill” Brewton, 63, of Bristol, Tenn. and formerly of Fernandina Beach, Fla., passed away Thursday, March 14, 2019 at Bristol Regional Medical Center.
He was born in Jacksonville, Fla. to the late Dr. Cecil B. Brewton and Sarah Dickens Brewton. His father’s medical practice moved his family to Nassau County, where Bill graduated from Fernandina Beach High School, Class of 1973. He continued his education at the University of Florida and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in forestry.
He married the former Deborah Winters in 1995. Bill was employed by Rick Keffer Dodge for many years while living in Fernandina Beach before he and Debbie moved to Bristol in 2009. Most recently, Bill worked for Bass Pro Shops as a greeter. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and above all loved to make Debbie happy. He attended Virginia Avenue Baptist Church in Bristol.
In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his sister, Margie Brewton Rieske.
He leaves behind his wife of 23 years, Debbie W. Brewton of Bristol; brothers, C. B. “Chip” Brewton and his wife, Vikki, of Madera, Calif. and Glenn Brewton of Glennville, Ga.; a sister, Mary Julia Little and her husband, Dennis, of Fernandina Beach; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and good friends.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, March 22, 2019 in the Burgess Chapel of Oxley-Heard with Mr. Orville Saunders officiating. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, March 21, 2019 at the funeral home. He will be laid to rest in Bosque Bello Cemetery.
