
Dr. William Shadrach Young, 89, who resided in Fernandina Beach, Fla., passed away in his home Thursday, May 16, 2019.
Dr. Young was a retired chiropractor who practiced for more than 50 years in Philadelphia, Miss. as well as in Water Valley and Oxford, Miss. He was a member of the American Chiropractic Association, Mississippi Chiropractic Association, and Parker Chiropractic Research Foundation. He attended the Texas Chiropractic College and graduated from San Antonio College and Bebout College of Chiropractic in Indianapolis, Ind. He was also a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, having served in the Korean Conflict in the early 1950s.
He was predeceased by his wife, Amelia Frances Dassinger; his parents, Joseph Enoch Young and Rubie Essery Young; his aunt, Ruth Young McKay and her husband, J. Lester McKay, who raised him from an infant.
He is survived by his only child, his daughter, Karen Young and her husband, John Weaver; her child, Lindsey Bostick Butler (Trent); and their children, Canon and Tatum, Chelsey Bostick Sisco (Michael) and their daughter, Campbell, and his grandson, his only namesake, Ryan Shadrach Bostick (Hannah), and their son, Leland.
A graveside service will be held at a later date in Mississippi, where his remains will be laid to rest alongside his wife, Amelia Frances Dassinger.
