Mr. Christopher M. Mahoney, 53, of Fernandina Beach, Fla., passed away Friday, July 12, 2019 at UF Health North in Jacksonville.
Born in Canton, Ohio, he was the son of Linda Student Mahoney and the late Maurice Edward Mahoney.
Chris was a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Charlotte and studied additionally at Case Western Reserve University. He was a member of Kappa Sigma Fraternity. He moved 17 years ago to Fernandina Beach from Canton and soon after began the Medical Weight Management Clinic in Fernandina Beach, where he served as the owner and a bariatric specialist. He was a member of the American Bariatric Society, Nassau County Medical Society, and Fernandina Beach Chamber of Commerce.
He loved all things athletic, especially football and playing tennis. In addition, he loved movies, his family, and his many friends. He was a parishioner at St. Michael Catholic Church.
Chris was predeceased by his father, Maurice Edward Mahoney, in 2011.
He leaves behind his mother, Linda Mahoney of Yulee, Fla.; his sister, Theresa Mahoney of Fernandina Beach; an aunt, Margaret Crabtree of Baltimore, Md.; and two cousins, John and Richard Crabtree, also of Baltimore, as well as nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday, August 3, 2019 at St. Michael Catholic Church. Fr. Jose Kallukalam will officiate. The family will receive friends from 9 to 10 a.m. that same morning at Oxley-Heard Funeral Directors. He will be laid to rest with his father at Bosque Bello Cemetery.
