Velma Jean “Jeannie” Morgan, 56, passed away in her sleep on May 18, 2019.

She was born May 13,1963 at Humphrey’s Memorial Hospital in Fernandina Beach, Fla. to parents Gene Morgan and Velma Frances Graham. Beloved mother, grandmother, sister, daughter and so many more are just a few of the roles she treasured the most in her life. Jeannie had a flair for storytelling and engaging conversation, and she often had others laughing out loud with her exciting life stories. Jeannie was a “pistol” and loved to mingle amongst people. She would light up any room she entered. Her larger-than-life personality was full of adventure, chance, curiosity, and determination. She was selflessly loyal to those closest to her.

Jeannie was preceded in death by her father, Gene Morgan Sr.; grandparents, Manning and Aline Morgan; and great-grandparents, Alexander and Sarah Graham.

Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter, Amanda Jean Sutton (Joshua); grandchildren, Faith Morgan and Chase Stansberry; mother, Velma White; and siblings, Marilyn Morgan (Joseph), Gerrell Morgan (Cindy), Alex Morgan, Gene Morgan Jr. (Wendy), and Angie Dowdy, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and dear friends.

A celebration of life ceremony will be held later this fall at Springhill Baptist Church, located at 941017 Nassauville Road in Fernandina Beach. Services will be directed by Jack Jones of Family Funeral and Cremation. Burial services will follow in the family plot at Bosque Bello Cemetery in Fernandina Beach.

Memorial donations may be made to the family if so desired by accessing the PayPal link located on the Facebook page of Jeannie’s daughter, Amanda Sutton.
