
Harriet Baxley Nolan, 82, of Fernandina Beach, Fla., passed away Wednesday, October 23, 2019 after an extended illness.
Born April 12, 1937, in Pensacola, Fla., she was the daughter of the late Dr. Harry Bryan and Aleathea Hull Baxley. She was raised in Donalsonville, Ga. and graduated from the University of Georgia with a degree in education. She lived in Waycross, Ga. for 40 years with her beloved late husband, Tom Nolan. She was a longtime and faithful member of Grace Episcopal Church in Waycross. While having served in many capacities, one of her favorites was service in the Altar Guild. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, and sharing her home with many friends, family, and community. She was a devoted wife and mother and took great pleasure in being surrounded by those she loved so dearly. When she moved to Fernandina, she continued her church service with the Amelia Plantation Chapel and served in many areas. She was involved with Community Bible Study and continued to share her gift of hospitality and teaching.
She leaves behind her daughters, Lea Nolan Bagnal (Scott) of Greenville, S.C. and Margo Nolan Taylor (Tony) of Fernandina Beach; four grandchildren, Hallie Hinen (Shaun) of Charleston, S.C., Julia Bagnal of San Clemente, Calif., Nolan Bagnal of Charleston, and Tom Taylor of Fernandina Beach; sisters, Aleathea Davis of Tallahassee, Fla. and Franny Kilpatrick (Paul) of Columbus, Ga.; sister-in-law, Julie Nolan Bullard of Snellville, Ga.; and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, Charles Thomas Nolan; brother, Jimmy Baxley; sister-in-law, Patsy Baxley; and brother-in-law, David Davis.
She will be laid to rest at 11 a.m. Thursday, October 31, 2019, in Christ Church Episcopal cemetery on St. Simons Island, Ga. The memorial service to celebrate her life will be at 11 a.m. Friday, November 1, 2019 at Amelia Plantation Chapel.
