Norman Joseph Pineault, 81, passed away Thursday, October 24, 2019 at Community Hospice & Palliative Care’s Warner Center for Caring in Fernandina Beach, Fla. after a long illness.

Norm is survived by his wife of 34 years, Sandy; daughter, Lyn Skibinski née Pineault; husband Steve); son, David (wife Lori); and five grandchildren, Nolan, Jason, Kyle, Alexander, and Meagan.

Norm was born August 15, 1938 to the late Bertha and George Pineault of Swansea, Mass. Norm spent his early years in Swansea attending St. Michael’s elementary school and graduating from Case High School in 1956. He went on to attend Brown University and graduated in 1960 with a degree in political science. Following university, Norm served in the U.S. Air Force and was stationed in Biloxi, Miss., where he attained the rank of second lieutenant. Following his military service, Norm earned his MBA at Northeastern University and went on to work in the Finance Department at General Electric in Lynn, Mass.

After retiring in 1986, Norm and Sandy moved to the South Shore of Massachusetts and Rhode Island, where they worked on their garden, traveled, and welcomed grandchildren into their lives. In 2004, Norm and Sandy settled on Amelia Island, where they made numerous friends and became active in their church, St. Francis of Assisi. A lifelong learner, one of Norm’s last joys was learning how to play chess and starting the St. Francis Men’s Chess Club.

Norm was passionate about Sandy’s “Project Isobel” which, in partnership with the Respect Life Ministry, supported the St. Gerard maternity home and Christian high school for unwed mothers. Norm and Sandy were Respect Life Coordinators at St. Michael for two years. Norm also was council program director at Respect Life for two years and did a great job coordinating the different programs. Everyone got great joy from Norm’s smile. Norm held the values and teachings of God deep within his heart.

May God have mercy on the repose of the soul of our husband, father, and friend, Norm Pineault, and may HE give comfort and peace to his family as they mourn the loss of their loved one. Rest in Peace Norm!
