Mrs. Peggy Faye Purvis Snow, 74, of Adrian, Ga., passed away peacefully at Scott Health and Rehabilitation Center on Saturday afternoon, November 2, 2019.
Born in Fernandina, Fla., she was the only daughter and the eldest of three children born to the late Okie and Dora Beatrice Rowland Purvis. She grew up in downtown Fernandina before leaving in 1974 and moving to Dublin, Ga. to assist with a family member’s healthcare. While living in Dublin, she worked at Fairview Park Hospital in Housekeeping and Admissions. She returned to Fernandina Beach in 2000 and worked in the Canteen at Container Corporation of America. She returned to the Johnson County, Ga. area in 2005.
She enjoyed plants, tending her daylilies, sewing, fishing, hunting conch shells during flounder gigging outings on the south end of the island, and spending time with her family, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
She and her family had been longtime members of the United Pentecostal Church in Fernandina Beach and Lighthouse Pentecostal Church in Swainsboro, Ga.
Mrs. Snow leaves behind her children, James Kevin Drury (Karen) of East Dublin, Ga., Dora Williams (Jerry) of Adrian, Donna Wall (David) of Dexter, Ga., and Aubrey Shrader (Sharon) of Hazlehurst, Ga.; her two brothers, Gary Purvis (JoAnn) of Sneedville, Tenn. and Bobby Purvis of Yulee, Fla.; eight grandchildren, Courtney Rogers, Alicia Seeker, Doug Williams, Lindsey Fagins, James Drury, Cora Williams, Savannah Shrader, and Aubrey Paul Shrader; two great-grandchildren, Nazari Fagins and Julie Rogers; another great grandchild on the way, Nevaeh Fagins; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, November 4, 2019 in the Williams Chapel of Sammons Funeral Home in Soperton, Ga. with Pastor Chris Young officiating. Mrs. Snow was laid to rest beside an aunt, Emily Beasley, in the Faith Tabernacle Cemetery in Treutlen County, Ga. Serving as pallbearers were James Drury, Aubrey Paul Shrader, Keith Purvis, Joe Seeker, Jerome Fagins, Scott Rogers, and Doug Williams. Her family received friends from 1 p.m. until the hour of the service Monday, November 4, 2019 at the funeral home.
