
Michael Lee Tauscher, 59, of Bluffton, S.C., passed away in his home Thursday, Nov. 10, 2016. He was born in Rivera, Calif., on Oct. 14, 1957, to Murray Leon and Lillian Geneavee Tauscher.
He was a U.S. Marine veteran, serving during the Gulf War in Desert Storm. Following his service, he became a commercial truck driver.
Mike was a devoted, loving husband to Karen. He loved and enjoyed family and friends. To his country, he honorably served and fought while forming a brotherhood bond with his fellow servicemen.
He leaves behind his wife, Karen, of 12 years. He is survived by a son, Michael Anthony Tauscher; and three stepchildren, Jennifer Galara, Kurt Kuchenbrod and Kendra Kuchenbrod. He will be missed by three grandchildren, Gideon Tauscher, Allyssa Stewart and Carter Kuchenbrod. His siblings, John (Katie), Matthew (Diane) and Jodi Tauscher also will miss his wonderful sense of humor and friendship.
Friends and family are welcome to attend a memorial service that will be held in Calvary Baptist Church in Fernandina Beach at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 19. His remains will be laid to rest alongside his fellow Marines at the Arlington National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to Hospice Care of the Lowcountry, Bluffton; and the Wounded Warrior Project.
