John Paul Chereck

John Paul Chereck, 53, of Fernandina Beach, passed away on Thursday evening, Nov. 24, 2016, at Miller County Hospital in Colquitt, Ga.

He was born on April 15, 1963, in Brooklyn, N.Y., the son of Rosemary and the late Richard Chereck. The family relocated to Fernandina Beach in 1976, and he graduated from Fernandina Beach High School in 1981.

He worked for Stan Pope Flooring Co. for many years and then became associated with Atlantic Marine in Jacksonville. While at Atlantic Marine, he took night classes at Florida Community College at Jacksonville and became certified as an emergency medical technician, paramedic and firefighter working with the Duval County Fire Department. He later worked with Century Ambulance Service in Jacksonville. He also volunteered with the Nassauville Volunteer Fire Department, and he was very active with the Jacksonville Emergency Medical Association (J.E.M.A.).

Mr. Chereck was a member of Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Fernandina Beach.

He leaves behind his beloved mother, Rosemary Chereck of Fernandina Beach; his brothers, Timothy (Diane) Chereck of Gray, Ga., and Peter (Christina) Chereck of Port Neches, Texas; his sister, Katherine (James) Jackson of Yulee; and several aunts and uncles, five nephews, one niece and many cousins.

Memorial services will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 10, at Kingdom Hall on Nassauville Road.
