
Carlene Carter Kitchens, 83, of Southside Drive in Blakely, Ga., passed away Thursday, Dec. 1, 2016, at Four County Health and Rehabilitation in Richland, Ga.
Mrs. Kitchens was born in Waycross, Ga., on June 9, 1933, to the late John Loyd Carter and Nellie Lee Bagley Carter. Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Hiluard Kitchens Sr.; and a sister, Geraldine C. Byrum. She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Blakely and a homemaker.
Mrs. Kitchens’ survivors include a daughter, Theresa F. Morrell and Jim of Fort Gaines, Ga.; a son, Clarence Hiluard Kitchens Jr. and April of Cumming, Ga., two brothers, Carlos Carter and Ruby and J.T. Carter, all of Fernandina Beach. There are five grandchildren, Trey Kitchens of Atlanta, Will Foster (Kirsten) and Casey Puckett (Will), all of Blakely, Whitney Spurlock of Dawson, Ga., and Caleb Morrell of Statesboro, Ga. She also has four great-grandchildren, Rylan Foster, Wyatt Puckett, Moly Foster and Hendrix Spurlock.
Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon, Dec. 3, in the Chapel of Manry-Jordan-Hodges Funeral Home in Blakely. The family received friends at the funeral home prior to the service. The Rev. Phil Thomas officiated.
Local services were held on Sunday afternoon, Dec. 4, at the graveside in Bosque Bello Cemetery, as she was laid to rest beside her husband.
Her family received friends on Sunday at Oxley-Heard prior to the graveside service.
