Jack E. Galliher, 81, of Fernandina Beach, entered heaven on Friday, Dec. 23, 2016.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 14, at Memorial United Methodist Church in Fernandina Beach. Visitation will be held following the service.
Jack was born in Statesville, N.C., on March 19, 1935. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force, where he was a sergeant, and retired from NASA in Cape Canaveral after 30 years. He had a Bachelor of Science in computer science from Florida Technological University (now known as University of Central Florida).
Jack was married to Willis Timmons of Salters, S.C., on Dec. 25, 1958, enjoying 58 years of marriage.
Jack worked as a computer programmer and systems analyst with NASA for 30 years. He enjoyed basketball, puzzles, traveling and family time.
He was also actively involved in the United Methodist Church his entire life.
Jack is survived by his wife, Willis T. Galliher; his son, Jeffrey Jack Galliher and his wife, LeAnne Banker Galliher, of DeLand; his grandson, Jack Robert Galliher; granddaughter, Emily Laine Galliher; nephew, Harry “Chuck” Osborne Jr. of Orange Park; nephew, Christopher Osborne and his wife, Rosie, of Salters; niece, Judy Collins; and niece, Debbie Collins Haneline.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Memorial United Methodist Church in Fernandina Beach.
