
Roy B. Parker, 72, of Alma, Ga., died Saturday afternoon, Feb. 11, 2017, at Bacon County Hospital after an extended illness.
He was a native of Bacon County, Ga., son of the late Frank Parker and Rosa Marie Stewart Parker, and was also preceded in death by two brothers, Jimmy Frank Parker Sr. and Carroll Parker.
Roy retired from Container Corporation of America in Fernandina Beach after 41 years of employment. In 2002, moved back to his beloved farm in Bacon County, where he worked and enjoyed his many hobbies.
Survivors include his wife of 18 years, Dorinda Parker of Alma; a daughter, Rhonda Horne (Mark) of Fernandina Beach; a stepson, Chris Moore of Fernandina Beach; a brother, Donald Parker of Quitman, Ga.; a sister, Rosa Nell Moon of Alma; nine grandchildren, Ryan and Matt Braddock, Ashton, Alexis, Ethan, C.J. and Hannah Moore, Jamie Hunter and Jana Bowles. Also, seven great-grandchildren survive.
Funeral services were held Tuesday morning, Feb. 14, at the chapel of Crosby Funeral Home with the Rev. Randy Ray and the Rev. Tim Bennett officiating. Interment followed in Stewart Cemetery. The family received friends at the funeral home Monday evening, Feb. 13.
Active pallbearers were Ryan and Matt Braddock, Ashton Moore, Rhett Dale, Saul Gonzalez and Jonathan Dykes. Honorary pallbearers were the classmates of 1962 and Rick and Bryan Pope, Gary Taylor, Lamar Dale, Roy T. Boatright and Mac Andrews.
Crosby Funeral Home was in charge of all the arrangements.
