Robert L. Sovilla, 76, of Yulee, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 14, 2017. He was born March 6, 1940, in Charleston, W.Va., and moved to Yulee six years ago from Kingsland.
Mr. Sovilla was a third-degree Master Mason and a member of the Loyal Order of Moose in Kingsland. After graduating from military school, he served two years in the U.S. Coast Guard as a gunner's mate. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science from the University of Charleston and was employed by the federal government as a mechanical engineer, retiring from Kings Bay in 2006.
Bob enjoyed traveling, and collecting, buying and selling antiques. He was the owner of B&B Antique Collectibles.
He was predeceased by a daughter, Adena Turner of Charleston, S.C., in 2016.
In 2009, he met Bobbie Jean Conner. They married in 2011.
Also surviving are his sons, Robbie and Craig Sovilla; his stepson, Charlie Conner; a stepdaughter Diane Conner; and several grandchildren.
A graveside ceremony was held Friday, Feb. 17, at Green Pine Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial donations be made to the American Cancer Society.
