Mr. Charles Michael “Mike” Lamb, 70, of Yulee, passed away Friday morning, April 7, 2017, at his home.
Born in Akron, Ohio, he was the son of the late Harry A. and Anna Lorra Stenson Lamb. He grew up in Akron, where he attended high school. After high school, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and served during the Vietnam Conflict with the 82nd Airborne Division. Upon being honorably discharged, he returned home and worked in various occupations before moving to Yulee. Upon settling in Nassau County, he worked as a foreman during the construction of Jacksonville International Airport. He later began driving for Conway Transportation in Jacksonville, from where he retired in 2002.
Mr. Lamb was a charter member of the Loyal Order of the Moose in Yulee.
After retiring from truck driving, he enjoyed time with his children and grandchildren, riding his soft tail Harley Davidson and spending time at Cypers 2 with Joe, Mindy and all of his friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Michael Lamb.
Mr. Lamb leaves behind his wife, Janice of Yulee; children, Charles Adam Lamb of Akron, Traci Sue Cole of Akron, Lisa Marie Sanborn of Fernandina Beach, Nancy Ann Allred of Fernandina Beach, and Jessica Carrie Maynard of Yulee; a sister, Martha Dye of Akron; 10 grandchildren; and a couple of great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 13, in the Burgess Chapel of Oxley-Heard, with the Rev. Frank D. Shiver officiating.
His family will receive friends on Thursday at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until the hour of service.
