James Kelly Bowen (Daddy's little brown jug) went to his heavenly home Thursday, Dec. 15, 2016.
He was born May 31, 1942, to Andrew Frank and Marjorie Lyde Bowen of Fernandina Beach. After graduating from Fernandina Beach High School in 1960, he joined the U.S. Navy. He spent the next 23 years serving our country before retiring.
He met and married the love of his life, Marian Danis Gay, in Chesapeake, Va., where they lived until her death in 2014. He and his daughter Lynne Schwartz relocated to Satsuma, Fla., where he could sit on his dock, drink a cold beer and fish all day long. His hobbies were gardening, reading and watching the Gators play ball. But what he loved most was to shoot pool.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Frank Bowen.
He leaves behind his brothers, Robert Andrew and William Yancy (Elaine); daughter, Lynne Schultz; and many nieces, nephews and grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held at the Wilds Landing Cemetery, 67735 Owens Road, Yulee, at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 22.
