Born March 20, 1941, in Fort Worth, Texas, he was one of three and the last living child born to the late Jesse Lee and Letha Jewell Hudson Ennis.

He grew up in Fort Worth, where he was a graduate of Technical High School, Class of 1958. While attending school in Fort Worth, he met Glenda Jo Thompson, who would become his wife in 1960. He and his wife moved to Kenner, La., where he ran Howmedica – Ennis Inc. until retiring in 1997. After retiring, he enjoyed spending his newly found spare time transporting his grandchildren to their special events and traveling with his wife. Since 2006, they have made their home in Fernandina Beach.

Mr. Ennis was a member of Stockyard Masonic Lodge, Fort Worth; the Kiwanis Clubs of New Orleans and Fernandina Beach; as well as a member of the Men’s Newcomers Club of Fernandina Beach.

Since settling in Fernandina Beach, he and his wife have been members of First Baptist Church, where he was a member of the William Davis Sunday School Class.
