Ginger Rae Wainwright Holton

Mrs. Ginger Rae Wainwright Holton, age 48, of Fernandina Beach, passed away on Tuesday, April 19, 2016 at Shands of Jacksonville.

Born in Montgomery, AL, she was the daughter of George Ray Wainwright and Lucie Henrietta Lynch. She grew up in Montgomery until her family moved to Fernandina Beach in 1980. Ginger was a graduate of Fernandina Beach High School, Class of 1986. After high school, she attended Florida Community College of Jacksonville. In 2002 she began working at the Credit Union for CCA before substitute teaching in the primary grades within the Nassau County Public School System. For the past twelve years, Ginger has been a Personal Banker for First Coast Community Bank in Yulee. 

At the age of 16, she met Ted R. Holton, whom she would marry in 1988. During their marriage, Ted worked for FPU, the City of Fernandina Beach and was the Owner of Wet Zone Irrigation.  Ginger was her husband’s strongest supporter throughout his over 20 years of coaching and traveling with Babe Ruth Baseball in Fernandina Beach and Yulee.

She was a Notary and had performed numerous weddings around Nassau County over the years. She and Ted made their home an inviting place for anyone that came by and commonly took in local children needing a safe place to stay for a few days. Her family was her heart. She was a loving wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt and grandmother. She will be missed by all who knew her.

She is preceded in death by a sister, Bonnie Blue Wainwright.

Ginger leaves behind, her husband of 28 years, Ted Teddy Holton, Fernandina Beach, FL, their daughter, Ashley Holton Brown (Shawn), Charleston, SC, their son, Ted T.J. Holton, Fernandina Beach FL, her mother, Lucie Moore, Fernandina Beach, FL, her father, Ray Wainwright (Freeda), Moody, AL, a sister, Carole Baker (Kerry), Haughton, LA, four grandchildren, Alyssa, Madelyn, Hunter,  Fischer, a niece, Heather Winslett (David) and many other family members and friends.

Her family will receive friends on Friday, April 22, from 5:00-7:00 pm at Oxley-Heard Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday in the Burgess Chapel of Oxley Heard. Her family wishes to express their heartfelt appreciation to Dr. Zaid Awad and his staff for the care that they extended to Mrs. Holton.
