Timothy E. Swearingen

Timothy E. Swearingen, “The Battery Man,” 66, of Hilliard, passed away Wednesday, April 19, 2017, at his home in Hilliard.

Mr. Swearingen was born Feb. 26, 1951, in Jacksonville, and spent his early years in Jacksonville and the rest of his life in Hilliard. Tim was the middle son of Stephen and Mary Swearingen, who are both deceased.

He leaves behind a sister, Delores L. Doyle and her son Hugh Simmons, his beloved nephew; two brothers, Toby Swearingen and the Rev. Bert Swearingen; and several nieces, nephews and cousins; as well as stepchildren, Andy Moser, Jonathan Taylor and Samantha Johnson; and two grandchildren, Brianna Taylor and Allison Moser.

Tim sold batteries for many years and was known in Callahan and Hilliard as “The Battery Man.” He loved to hunt, fish and garden. Tim took great delight in telling his fish stories and always had a good sense of humor. He loved his cats and beloved dog, Brownie.

Graveside services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 13, at Bosque Bello Cemetery, Fernandina Beach, with the Rev. Bert Swearingen officiating.
