Kimberly Sue Sanders-Decowski passed away on Wednesday, August 23, 2017.

She was born on January 5, 1968 to Dale Max Sanders and Grace Earlene Hudgens-Sanders in Stillwater, Okla. As a child, she spent time in Germany before settling in Woodbridge, Va., where she graduated from Woodbridge Senior High School in 1986.

She met her husband, Chester Francis Decowski II, over a game of pinball at Kurt's Arcade in Woodbridge. Kim proposed to Chester after three months of dating. They married September 3, 1988 and started to build their family by having four children: Patrick, 26, Samantha, 24, Chelsea, 22, and Kristine, 18.

Kim worked as a human resources specialist for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers for over 30 years.

In the last couple of years, Kim and Chester have became heavily involved with the American Legion Riders (Post 54) of Fernandina Beach. She loved all of the time spent riding motorcycles with her husband and new friends.

Remember Kim for the quiet yet rambunctious woman she was, who was never afraid to speak her mind. Everyone in her life loved her in every way and was incredibly lucky to have been given the time they did with her. She will forever live on in their hearts and memories.

A celebration of Kim's life will be held at Main Beach (Gazebo A) at 10 a.m. Saturday, September 2, 2017.

Please share her Life Story and leave your memories and condolences at www.oxleyheard.com.
