
Marguerite Diane Carroll, 83, of Amelia Island and formerly of Gainesville, Fla. passed away on Wednesday, August 30, 2017 at Community Hospice & Palliative Care’s Warner Center for Caring in Fernandina Beach, Fla.
Born on February 25, 1934 in Washington, D.C., she was the daughter of the late Clarence Taze Wright and Catherine Marie Manning. She had lived in northern Virginia before moving to Florida and living in Gainesville prior to moving to Amelia Island in 2003.
Mrs. Carroll worked in the banking industry for years in Virginia and was a member of the American Banking Association and St. Michael Catholic Church of Fernandina Beach.
She leaves behind her husband, Phillip P. Carroll Jr. of Amelia Island; children, James Aker of Wilmington, Del., Dyanne Hughes of Amelia Island, and Neal Aker of Fernandina Beach; a brother, Curtis Wright of Ariz.; sisters, Claire Marie McLendon of Colo., and Laura Lee Mender, Miss.; and grandchildren, Scott, Keith, Logan and Kimberly Aker, Cody Soard, Daniel Chronister, Tracey Simrell and Candice Hellyar. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Kathy Aker Chronister.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Sunday, October 15, 2017 in the Burgess Chapel of Oxley-Heard with her son, Jim Aker, officiating.
Further services and burial will take place at 10:30 a.m. Monday, October 16, 2017 from the graveside in Evergreen Cemetery in Gainesville.
