Ralph Edward Pope, 77, of Yulee, Fla. passed away October 31, 2017. He was born September 24, 1940 in Jacksonville, Fla.
He was a Florida native and attended Andrew Jackson High School. After high school, Mr. Pope joined the United States Air Force and was eventually stationed in Great Fall, Mont., where he met the love of his life, Diean.
In 1962, they made their home in Jacksonville and then moved to Yulee in 1972.
He was a caring, compassionate man with a big heart and was always willing to help anyone if he thought they needed it.
Mr. Pope was very active with Yulee little league and served as president for many years. He retired from Smurfit-Stone Container Corp.
Mr. Pope enjoyed woodworking, trains and just being busy and creative but most of all he loved golf and spending quality time with his family and friends.
He was preceded by his wife of 46 years, Diean K. Pope; his parents, William Terrell Pope and Janie Beatrice McCammon; and his sister, Terrelene Raulerson.
He is survived by his sons, Thomas Pope and Jeffery Pope, both of Yulee; his brother, William W. Pope (Thelma) of Tampa, Fla.; grandchildren, TJ Pope, Damien Carré, Rhiannon Carré, and Katrina Griffis; and eight great-grandchildren, as well as some very special nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, November 4, 2017, at United Methodist Church, 86003 Christian Way, Yulee. A visitation with family will begin at 10 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Northeast Florida Community Hospice.
