Charlie Steinkamp died peacefully in Fernandina Beach, Fla., on May 10, 2016.
He was the loving husband of Mary Steinkamp and caring brother of Jeanne Dunegan. He loved his children, grandchildren, in-laws and extended family. He cherished his neighbors, co-workers, friends from church, the airport, sailing club, morning coffee gatherings, fishing club and The Amelia Island Plantation.
He lived in Pittsburgh, Pa., Washington, D.C., Bowie, Md., New Orleans, La., and Fernandina Beach, Fla.
His wishes for his obituary were to keep it simple and not list his many accomplishments, as he said, “it’s an obituary, not a resume.”
In lieu of flowers, please be generous to St. Michaels Church or the charitable causes that you care to support in his name.
A Mass is scheduled to celebrate his life at 11 a.m. on Monday, May 23, 2016, at St. Michael Catholic Church in Fernandina Beach, Fla., with a reception to follow. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Charlie’s life.
