
John Calvin (Jack) Stalnaker, 97, passed away on December 2, 2017 at Community Hospice & Palliative Care’s Warner Center for Caring in Fernandina Beach, Fla.
He was born July 2, 1920 in Baldwin, Fla., and was raised in Callahan, Fla.
Jack was associated for years with First Federal Savings and Loan, and later, the Fernandina Beach Housing Authority, serving as a board member and as the executive director. He was a licensed real estate agent, operating his own business, Stalnaker Realty, and was later employed by Century 21.
Mr. Stalnaker served in the U.S. Army during World War II and the Korean Conflict. He was the oldest member of the American Legion Post 54. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Fernandina Beach.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Geraldine S. Tiner; nephew, Gerald McClain; and longtime companion, Isabell Sturges.
Survivors include nieces, Janice Tiner McClain of Valdosta, Ga., and Joyce T. Bradley (Peyton) of Fernandina Beach; nephews, Jesse Robert Tiner (Judy) of Fernandina Beach, and Brian Tiner (Robin), Mason Tiner and Harrison Tiner of Hinesville, Ga.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, December 6, 2017 in the Burgess Chapel. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, December 5, 2017 at Oxley-Heard Funeral Home. Mr. Stalnaker will be laid to rest in Bosque Bello Cemetery.
