Mr. Norman E. Pearson, 61, of Yulee, Fla., passed away Sunday, June 30, 2019 at Community Hospice & Palliative Care’s Warner Center for Caring in Fernandina Beach, Fla.

He was a son of the late Coys and Mae Touchton Pearson and was born in Jacksonville, Fla.

He and his family moved to Yulee at the time he began the third grade. He would live in Yulee for the remainder of his life. After school, he began his working career. He eventually went to work for Anheuser-Busch and would continue there for more than 30 years until his retirement.

Paul Joseph Hargreaves Sr.

After a courageous battle with cancer, Paul Joseph Hargreaves Sr. died June 25, 2019 at home in Fernandina Beach, Fla.

Paul was born July 7, 1932 in Medford, Mass. to the late George and Lillian Hargreaves.

After graduating from Medford High School, he served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. After serving, he attended Boston University and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration.

While working on Cape Cod during the summer of 1955, he met the love of his life, Shirley, who would soon become his wife. Married just shy of 61 years, they were two peas in a pod. He was the jokester and she the straight man always keeping him in line. And could they dance! After graduating from BU, he joined United Parcel Service, where he spent his career in Human Resources until retiring in 1990. Leaving their home in Darien, Conn., they retired to Amelia Island. The retirement years were filled with golfing, boating, fishing, attending church, entertaining family and friends and traveling. He was proud to say that he had been to every state! While he loved the hot tub at Amelia Island Plantation’s health center, no one had a more pristine pool than he had, and it was enjoyed by all.

He was predeceased by his son, Paul J. Hargreaves Jr.; his sisters, Mary (Jack) MacNamera, Lily (Robert) Sheehan, Katherine O’Neill; his brother, George Hargreaves; and brother-in-law, Pete Bostrom.

In addition to his wife, Shirley, he leaves behind his daughter, Dorinda (Charles) Fish of Stamford, Conn.; his son, David previously from Montauk, N.Y. and now Fernandina Beach; his granddaughters, Kelsey Beglin from Shelton, Conn., Cara Beglin from Portland, Maine, Sandra (Joey) Bryan from Fullerton, Calif.; and a great-grandson, Asher Bryan also from Fullerton. Also, he leaves his sisters-in-law, Anne (David) Sullivan of Oak Harbor, Wash. and Carol Bostrom of Madison, Conn. He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

Known as the “funny guy” by many, he was always quick with a joke, a smile and a most incredibly generous nature. In addition, he never walked by a piano without tickling the ivories with one of his by ear, bluesy jazz renditions, “Heart and Soul” being a favorite. As he often said, “If you have your health, you have everything.”

We are truly blessed to have had him in our lives. RIP until we meet again.

A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday, July 12, 2019 at St. Michael Catholic Church.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial donations in Mr. Hargreaves’ name be donated to Community Hospice & Palliative Care.
