Bradley Thompson Upham

Bradley Thompson Upham, 89, passed away Thursday, June 7, 2018, at Christ Hospital in Cincinnati, Ohio after a short illness.

Beloved husband of the late Mary Drake for 62 years, dear son of Stephen Pierce Upham Sr. and Susan Parsons Upham, loving father of sons Bradley Tupper and David Todd, daughter-in-law Wendy, grandfather of Ellen, Madeline, Allison, Bradley, Justin and Ben. Dear brother to the late Stephen Pierce Upham Jr. and David Lanning Upham.

Bradley received his associate’s degree in business and finance at Oberlin College in 1954 and was honorably discharged from the United States Navy, having served as a chaplain’s assistant musician as second class petty officer during the Korean Conflict in 1953. He was a fluent keyboard performer and entertained in many organizations in his lifetime.

Bradley was a former member of the Kiwanis International service organization and the Homestead Club of Mount Vernon. Bradley started his career for Kidder-Peabody, where he initiated and floated the original bonding for the Ohio Turnpike. He was an active developer in the Central Ohio, having helped start the Wendy’s Hamburger chain with Dave Thomas.

Bradley was a member of St. Paul’s Church (Episcopal) of Mount Vernon, having sung as choirboy in that parish and served as an usher in later years. He also served on the finance committees of that parish.

A private graveside service will be held at a future date to be determined.
