Eleanor Sue Angert, 75, of Fernandina Beach, Fla., passed away Monday, January 28, 2019 surrounded by family.

Born in Savannah, Ga. to the late Ben and Bessie Mae (Edwards) Brewton, she was raised in Bryan County, Ga. and graduated from Pembroke High School. Sue, as she was known by all, continued her education by obtaining her bachelor’s degree in education at Georgia Southern and then her master’s degree in education from Armstrong State College in Savannah. She was employed as a teacher for many years until retiring from the Winston-Salem, N.C. school system.

In 1977, she met Hugh Angert on a blind date, and they were inseparable from the start. They married in 1979. He called her “his Sweet Sue” and “the most beautiful girl he had ever known, both inside and out.”

In 2013, Sue and Hugh moved to Fernandina Beach, where she enjoyed going to the beach, gardening, and decorating. Above all, she loved being with her family and took time to celebrate every accomplishment of her children and grandchildren.

She leaves behind her husband of 39 years, Hugh Angert of Fernandina Beach; son, James Mock of Gainesville, Fla.; daughter, Laura (Alex) Thompson of Kennebunk, Maine; siblings, Martha Ann Pulliam, Doris Anderson, and Ben Brewton; grandchildren, Abigail Doherty, Benjamin Mock, Lillian Doherty, Katherine Mock, Paul Thompson, Owen Thompson; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, February 2, 2019 in the Burgess Chapel of Oxley-Heard Funeral Home with the Reverend Dr. Doug Ganyo officiating. The family will receive friends 5-7 p.m. Friday, February 1, 2019 at the funeral home. She will be laid to rest in Bosque Bello Cemetery.
