
Nina Ruth Black Suddath, 82, passed away April 3, 2019 on Amelia Island, Fla.
Born on June 18, 1936 in Sumter County, Ala. to Ulay Jay Black and Ruth Kellett Black, she was the fourth of eventually six siblings. On September 1, 1960, she married Lovick Pierce Suddath III, whose career took them too many places up and down the East Coast of the U.S. and to the Caribbean, all while raising four children – three sons, John, Pierce, and Guy, and one daughter, Susannah.
Nina enjoyed many things, especially cooking and fellowshipping with family and friends. She also volunteered and supported many causes in the communities in which she lived, especially her local churches where she served in many capacities, including being a deacon.
Not only were Nina and Lovick husband and wife, but they are were best friends and international traveling companions. They were celebrating 59 years of marriage together this year.
Nina was known for her quick wit, infectious smile, and kind and compassionate spirit.
Nina is survived by her husband, Lovick; her two children, son John and wife Kendra, and daughter Susannah and husband Dan; daughter-in-law, Mimi Suddath; brother, Charles Allan Black and wife Louise; and grandchildren, John Suddath, Jackson Sisson, Zachary Sisson, Mary Grace Suddath, and Georgia Suddath; great-granddaughter, Mariana Jo Kaylor-Suddath; and many precious nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 13, 2019 in the Amelia Island Plantation Chapel on Amelia Island.
