Helen Robbins Clark, 92, of Amelia Island, Fla., passed away Thursday, July 14, 2016 at Osprey Village at Amelia Island, Fla.
She was born May 22, 1924, in Rocky Mount, N.C. She was preceded in death by her parents, William G. and Helen Chisman Robbins; husband, Charles Richard Clark; and brother, Austin Robbins.
Helen graduated from Rocky Mount High School in 1941 and graduated from Salem College for women in 1945 with a major in English and History minor. She married Charles Richard Clark in September 1949 and they celebrated 59 years together. Helen became a stay-at-home mother, having six children, and volunteered her services to her community wherever she resided. She was a member of Holy Trinity Church, the Raeford Garden Club, the Women's Club and bridge club. One of her fondest memories was the annual horse show in Raeford, N.C., that the Women's Club sponsored. After moving to Warner Robins, Ga., in 2004, she would bake dozens of cookies weekly for the homeless mission in Macon, Ga.
In 2012, she moved to Osprey Village Assisted Living on Amelia Island, Fla., where she enjoyed Scrabble, poker and games of trivia. As we drove through the canopy of trees, we saw a look of peace and contentment come over her. She loved her newfound family and friends at Osprey Village, which became her home. She thoroughly enjoyed her golf cart rides in the evenings around the Plantation, searching for birds and naming foliage with the gang. She enjoyed traveling, reading and was a passionate cook.
A celebration of Helen’s life for Osprey Village friends and family will be held Saturday, July 23, 2016 at Osprey Village Retreat, Amelia Island, Fla., at 2 p.m., with Fr. Stephen Mazino officiating. Following the service, there will be a reception at the Christie’s home from 5-7:30 p.m.
Survivors include her six children, Helen Pryor, Nev., Richard Clark (Teresa), N.C., John Clark, N.C., Catherine Christie (David), Kingsland, Ga., Thomas Clark (Robin), Nev., Jannet Kall (Jerry), Warner Robins, Ga.; five grandchildren, Charles Clark (Kellie), Matthew Clark, Jonathan Christie, Zachary Bibb and Gabrielle Bibb. Friends and family will remember her wonderful smile and positive attitude and her sharp mind of history and general knowledge.
The family would like to thank all of the nurses and staff at Osprey Village, to include Dana Sargeant; the nurses at Baptist Nassau; Dr. Cu; Dr. LeBert and their respective staff and many more that contributed to her quality of life.
