Rose Mary Miller, 90, of Fernandina Beach, Fla., passed away Friday, June 14, 2019 at Community Hospice & Palliative Care’s Warner Center for Caring in Fernandina Beach, Fla.
A lifelong resident of Fernandina, she was born at home in Old Town and spent all of her life there. She was one of 10 children born to the late Charles Alfred and Gertrude Roberts Lucas.
She was a longtime member of the North 14th Street Baptist Church. Mrs. Miller retired from Gilman Paper Company after a full career there as an inspector.

Mrs. Miller will always be remembered for her love of her family. Despite having no children of her own, her nieces and nephews became her children. Through the years, several of them lived with her at one time or another.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Sherd S. Miller in 1996, as well as her brothers and sisters, William Lucas, Maggie Sterling, Margie Wiggins, Bertie Mae Mingledorff, Lillian Fulford, George Lucas, Harold Lucas, and Claude Lucas.
She leaves behind several nieces and nephews as well as other extended family members.
Her family will receive friends 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, June 19, 2019 at Oxley-Heard Funeral Directors. She will be laid to rest beside her husband in Bosque Bello Cemetery following a graveside funeral service at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 20, 2019. Her great-nephew, Chaplain Philip Stewart, USAF, will officiate.
The family asks that donations be made in her memory to the American Lung Association, 55 W. Wacker Drive, Suite 1150, Chicago, IL 60601, or the American Heart Association, 7751 Baymeadows Road E., No. 106, Jacksonville, FL 32256.
