
Daniel D. Thomas, 77, better known as “T-Bone,” was born June 4, 1942 to the late Verdie Thomas and Isaac Smith and passed on June 12, 2019 at Community Hospice & Palliative Care’s Warner Center for Caring in Fernandina Beach, Fla. He was a lifelong resident of Nassau County.
Daniel attended and graduated from Peck High School in 1960. Upon graduation, he joined the U.S. Army and served during the Vietnam War. After being honorably discharged from the military, he returned home. He was employed with ITT Rayonier and retired with more than 36 years of service.
Cherishing his memory is his loving wife, Beverly Thomas; son, Daniel Thomas Jr. of Yulee, Fla.; daughters, Yolanda Thomas and Lisa Thomas, both of Jacksonville, Fla.; sisters, Rachel Fussell, Victoria Jones, and Vanessa Thomas, all of Jacksonville; an aunt, Dallie Thomas of Miami, Fla.; nephew, Joseph Toussaint of Jacksonville; lifelong friends, Lonnie Jones, O’Steen Demps, and George Green; and friends, Verna Simmons, Nikki Nix, Rev. Wardell Avant Jr., and Benjamin Alderman Jr., as well as numerous cousins, family, friends, and neighbors.
A viewing will be held 5-7 p.m. Friday, June 21, 2019 at River of Praise Worship Center, 83410 St. Marks Dr., Yulee. The funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, June 22, 2019 at the same location.
