Douglas E. Weinberg, 61, of Yulee, Fla., passed away Friday, December 6, 2019 at Baptist Medical Center Nassau.

Born in Jacksonville, Fla., he spent most of his life in Nassau County and was a son of the late James Randy and Joan Adams Weinberg.

Douglas graduated from Fernandina Beach High School in 1978 and for many years operated his own landscaping business, First Class Lawn Service. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Callahan.

A native “Florida boy,” he loved being outdoors, the local beaches, and deer hunting. Whether in Gatlinburg, Tenn. or going all the way to Canada, he loved seeing snow. Besides travelling and hunting, he enjoyed the mountains and riding his motorcycle.

Douglas was always a jokester who enjoyed being around people. Whether for somebody he had known for just a short time or for a lifelong friend, he would do anything he could to help somebody. He would give away his “last dollar” to take care of you. If he was your friend, he was your best friend. He could fix anything and was always willing to assist anybody who needed his help with a repair of nearly anything. A longtime member of the Fernandina Masonic Lodge and the Morocco Shrine Temple, he was active with both as long as his health permitted.

Douglas loved his wife and children dearly. He was especially proud of his children. From how proud he was of Tiffany in her role as a paramedic and firefighter to teaching his son, Ron, to work on nearly anything mechanical, his love for his family has always been there and will continue forever.

Douglas leaves behind his wife of 36 years, Teresa Weinberg of Yulee; his children, Tiffany Weinberg of Yulee and Ron (Tricia) Willis of St. Marys, Ga.; a grandson, Preston Willis of St. Marys; his sister, Tammy Minton of Jacksonville; and a brother, David Weinberg of Yulee, as well as several other extended family members.

Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Monday, December 9, 2019 in the Burgess Chapel of Oxley-Heard Funeral Directors with Pastor Lynn Hyatt officiating. The family received friends for the hour prior to the service.

He was laid to rest with his parents at Hughes Cemetery in Yulee.
