
Mr. Shawn Jason Kubalack, 37, of Fernandina Beach, passed away on Tuesday, Aug. 9, 2016, in Hoover, Ala.
Born in Madison, Tenn., he was the son of Steven John Kubalack and Angelia Karen Blackburn. Shawn grew up in Fredericksburg, Va., and joined the United States Marine Corps at the age of 17. He worked as a salesman of home furnishings for the majority of his life. He traveled and worked the entire Eastern Seaboard as a furniture liquidator. He spent several years in Fernandina Beach and worked various occupations in the area, including landscaping, electrical and service-related jobs.
Shawn enjoyed billiards with his friends and fellow pool players and walking with his dog, Jersey, on the beach at sunset. His two daughters, Keely and Kendall, were the love of his life.
He attended St. Michael Catholic Church with his dad, Pete Delfox, and sister, Amy.
Shawn leaves behind his mother, Angelia Karen Delfox and her husband, Peter, of Yulee; his father, Steve Kubalack of Williamsburg, Va.; his daughters, Keely and Kendall Kubalack of Fredericksburg; paternal grandmother, Regina Peters of Knoxville, Tenn.; his sister, Amy Camargo; brother-in-law, Netto Camargo; niece, Kaleigh Kubalack; nephew, Bryce Camargo of Yulee; and his beloved yellow Lab, “Jersey.”
The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 20, at St. Michael Catholic Church with the Rev. Father Jose Kallukalam, celebrant.
His family will receive friends on Friday from 5-7 p.m. in the Burgess Chapel of Oxley-Heard, where the vigil service will be held at 6 p.m. with Deacon Art Treadwell officiating.
