
Mr. Christopher Adam Nichols, 33, former longtime resident of Nassau County passed away on Saturday afternoon, Aug. 13, 2016.
Born in Birmingham, Ala., he was the son of Charles Wendal Nichols and Dolores Brand. At the age of 4, Adam’s family came to Nassau County and made it their home. Adam attended elementary, middle and high school in Yulee and Fernandina Beach. As a child, he enjoyed Pop Warner football, baseball at Yulee Little League and basketball at the YMCA. As an adult, his passion for physical activity and his love of Little League ball were evident through his many years of coaching at Yulee. He was the head coach of the Yulee Rays, where he coached many kids from T-ball through the age of 12. In 2005, Adam married Leah Kristen Blanton, and they made their home in north Jacksonville. Since 2005, Adam has been the owner and operator of Adam Nichols Outdoor Services.
Adam was an avid fan of the Crimson Tide and anyone who knew him knew he passionately loved Alabama football.
He attended Celebration Baptist Church in Yulee.
Adam leaves behind his wife, Leah Nichols; their two sons, Brodie and Brock; and their unborn twins, all of Jacksonville; his father, Chuck Nichols of Fernandina Beach; his mother, Dolores Googe (Dave) of Yulee; his brothers and sisters, Anthony Michael Nichols of Yulee, Perry Nichols of Alabama, Terri Sweat of Alabama, Felecia Rodenbarger of Dover Bluff, Ga., Derrick Nichols of Alabama, Tabatha Nichols of Alabama and Tiffany Henderson of Alabama; and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Darrell and Sharon Blanton of Fernandina Beach; as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Adam was a devoted father and husband. His passing has left a hole not only in his family’s heart, but also the Yulee and Fernandina Beach communities. He also made a lasting impression on many children’s lives through his love for coaching and his passion for kids.
Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 20, at First Baptist Church of Fernandina Beach, with Pastor Mike Kwiatkowski of Celebration Baptist Church officiating.
You are invited to join the family at Green Pine Cemetery, where Adam will be laid to rest, immediately after the service.
His family will receive friends on Saturday from 1-3 p.m. at the church.
