
Sylvia Perez Ferreira, 90, of Jacksonville, passed away at the Acosta-Rua Center for Caring in Jacksonville with her loving family by her side.
She was born in Alger, Algeria, on June 14, 1926, to the late Smain Kissarli and Silveria Pecot. Sylvia married the love of her life, Vincent Eugene Ferreira, in 1946, and together they raised two amazing sons, Vincent and Andre. Sylvia enjoyed a successful 30-year career as a self-employed beautician with a salon in her home. Her favorite hobbies were crocheting, knitting, needlepoint and ballroom dancing. More than anything, she enjoyed taking her grandchildren to Disney World and making lots of memories at her beach house in Fernandina Beach.
Sylvia was predeceased by her husband of 56 years, Vincent Eugene Ferreira; brother, Andre S. Perez; and sisters, Maria Peraldi and Gabriel Kissarli.
Sylvia is survived by her sons, Vincent (Sydney) Ferreira of Macclenny and Andre (Richard Dorman) Ferreira of Jacksonville; three grandchildren, Todd (Heather Maley) Ferreira of Macclenny, Jill (Mike) Brannen of Macclenny and Sydney (Gerson) Avila of Jacksonville; and six great-grandchildren, Whitney Moore, Mannie Ferreira, Sofia Avila, Levi Avila, Emma Ferreira and Ellie Ferreira.
A Mass will be held on Saturday, Jan. 28, at 1 p.m. at St. Michael Catholic Church in Fernandina Beach, with Father Monsignor Vincent Haut as celebrant. Interment will follow at Bosque Bello Cemetery in Fernandina Beach.
The family will receive friends Friday, Jan. 27, from 5-7 p.m. at Oxley-Heard Funeral Home in Fernandina Beach with a Vigil beginning at 6 p.m. The arrangements are under the care of V.
