Carrie Lee Jones Alvarez, 96, of Fernandina Beach, passed away on Monday afternoon, Feb. 6, 2017, at Quality Healthcare of Fernandina Beach.
Born in Callahan, she was the daughter of the late Pasco and Wilma Braddock Jones. A lifelong resident of Nassau County, she worked as a lab technician at ITT Rayonier until retiring.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Delores Alvarez Strickland; the father of her children, Albert “Ybor” Alvarez; a brother; and four sisters.
Mrs. Alvarez leaves behind her children, Sammy Alvarez of Fernandina Beach, Benny Alvarez and his wife, Harriet, of Kingsland, and Rita Gray and her husband, Colin, of Fernandina Beach; a sister, Emily Howard of Fernandina Beach; seven grandchildren, Lisa Carroll, Angie McMeans, Alison Dorsey, Bo Alvarez, Tricia Parkin, Cameron Gray and Leigh Ann Puca; 19 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and a great-great-great-grandson.
A private memorial service for her family will be held at a later date.
