Kenneth Gilson “Gil” Bailey Jr., 77, passed away peacefully Monday, May 8, 2017, at Community Hospice & Palliative Care’s Bailey Family Center for Caring in St. Augustine.
Gil was born in St. Augustine to parents Kenneth G. and Agnes R. Bailey. He started his career in banking and retired as a restaurateur. A true Floridian and a Gator fan at heart, Gil was an avid golfer, loved spending time at the beach and, most of all, loved spending time with his loving family.
Gil is survived by his longtime love, Carole Mays; two children, Kenneth G. Bailey III (Marie) and Denise Bailey Akers (Mike); his sister, Sylvia Mickler Stone; five grandchildren, Bryan Akers (Audrey), Brett Bailey, Bradley Akers, Brittany Wolske and Brooke Wolske; and his great-granddaughter, Bailey Akers; as well as many nieces and nephews.
As he starts his next chapter, he is reunited with his daughter, Julie Bailey Wolske; his parents, Kenneth G. and Agnes R. Bailey; and his brother, John R. Bailey.
A memorial will be held Friday, May 19, at Craig Funeral Home, St. Augustine. Family will receive friends at 6 p.m., with a rosary to follow at 7 p.m.
