Zach Butler, 19, of Valdosta, Ga., formerly of Tifton, passed away Wednesday, July 12, 2017, in Valdosta. His funeral service was Sunday, July 16, 2017, in the Sanctuary of Tifton’s First Baptist Church with the Rev. Christian Colson officiating. Zach was laid to rest at Tift Memorial Gardens.
Jerry Rodriguez, Cody Tucker, Ethan Bryant, Cully Jones, Logan Barr, Jack Hickox, Cole Ryder and Jaren Armijo served as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers were members of the Kappa Alpha Fraternity at Valdosta State University, including Tanner Nimmo, Jake Brooks, Bo Kennedy, Tanner Ewing, Ryan Bryant, Charlie Reinhardt, Sam Miller, Sam Tucker, Ryan Smith, D. J. Nickell, Tanner Brown, Robby Booth, Wade Vanduzer, and all his friends and classmates of Tift County High School and Valdosta State University.
Born May 11, 1998 in Tifton, Zach was the son of Jennifer Dishler Cavenaugh and Jake Cavenaugh, Tifton, Ga., and Donald Butler Jr., Panama City Beach (formerly of Yulee), Fla. He was a student at Valdosta State University, where he was a member of the Kappa Alpha Fraternity. He was employed at Valdosta Furniture Company and enjoyed life and always brought a smile to everyone’s face. He loved fishing and played baseball his whole life and played for Tift County High School. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Elizabeth and Larry Dishler.
In addition to his parents, Zach is survived by a brother, Eason Cavenaugh, Tifton; a sister, Breanah Butler, Panama City Beach; grandparents, Phil and Debbie Cavenaugh, Tifton, and Donald and April Butler, Yulee; grandmother, Ilene Dudley, St. Augustine; aunts, Christy Butler, St. Augustine, Melanie Dempsey, Fernandina Beach, and Melissa Paisley, Jacksonville; uncles, Jason Dishler, Tifton, and Shawn Zoller, St. Augustine; and many other great-aunts, great-uncles and cousins.
