
Thomas Littleton Cox, 66, Fernandina Beach, passed away Tuesday, July 11, 2017 at the Community Hospice & Palliative Care’s Warner Center for Caring in Fernandina Beach, Fla.
A native of South Boston, Va., Mr. Cox moved to Fernandina Beach after his discharge from the U. S. Navy. While in the Navy, Mr. Cox served as an aircraft mechanic and, while stationed with VA-83 at Cecil Field, Fla., he was deployed aboard the USS Forrestal (CV-59) during the Vietnam War. After moving to Fernandina Beach, he began working at NAPA Auto Parts and retired as the store manager. He married his wife, Myra, in 1994 and they enjoyed their years together with their families. In addition to the love of his family, he will be fondly remembered for his three favorite things: drinking coffee, riding his Harley and fishing. He will be missed by his friends who met regularly at the Coffee Clatch gathering.
Mr. Cox was predeceased by a brother, Scott Cox, and a sister, Mary Lou Riley. His surviving family includes his wife of 24 years, Myra Cox; his children, Scott Cox and his partner, Toni, Tammy McCauley and her husband, Bobby, Jon Cox and his partner, Ashley, and Patricia Quinones and her husband, Robert; a brother, William Cox and his wife, Pat; his grandchildren, Shelby and her husband, Joe, Justin, Kyle, Layla, Gabe, Sean, Ariel, Isaac, Brady and Bentlee; and his great-grandchildren, Addie and Aubrey as well as the “one on the way.”
Mr. Cox will be laid to rest with military honors at Jacksonville National Cemetery (Lane 2) Thursday, July 20, 2017 at 11 a.m. with Mr. Charles Terry officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in his memory to Community Hospice of Northeast Florida, 4266 Sunbeam Road, Jacksonville, FL 32257.
