Richard Alan “R.J.” Lowman Jr., age 28, of Fernandina Beach, Florida, joined the Lord April 27, 2016.
Born in Charleston, S.C., on Aug. 22, 1987, to Richard “Alan” Lowman Sr. and Serena Liebert Lowman, he was a brother to Olivia MacKay “Mac” Lowman and grandson to the late Troy (who affectionately called him scalawag) and Nancy Lowman of Charleston, S.C., and the late Gerald Liebert of Port Huron, MIch., and Janet Liebert of Port Huron, Mich., nephew to Rick and Tami Lowman and cousin of Ryan and Max Sherwood and Taylor and Tradd Lowman of South Carolina.
R.J. loved an opportunity to fish with family and friends. He earned a black belt in martial arts and attended the Junior Olympics in Orlando. He played Pop Warner football and wrestled for the Fernandina Beach Pirates.
R.J. attended Amelia Baptist Church, was baptized by the Rev. Neil Helton and san in the Allegiance choir, directed by Pam Helton — both mentors and lifelong friends and neighbors. He also played piano.
A service celebrating R.J.’s life will be held Saturday, May 14, at 11 a.m. at Amelia Baptist Church, 961167 Buccaneer Trail, Fernandina Beach, FL.
