Chett O’Neill Lyncker

Mr. Chett O’Neill Lyncker, age 34, of Fernandina Beach, FL passed away on Wednesday, May 4, 2016 at his home.

Born in Jacksonville, he was the son of Carey O’Neal Lyncker Jr. and Trudy Lea Conner. Chett was a graduate of First Coast High School, Class of 1999, where he was involved in ROTC. After high school he worked for a short time for Gate Petroleum before enrolling at the Fire Academy in Jacksonville. Upon his graduation as a Firefighter, he accepted a position with the Pensacola Fire Department. While in Pensacola, he completed his Paramedic training and certification and assisted FEMA in the post Hurricane Katrina recovery efforts. Chett remained with the Pensacola Fire Department until joining the City of Fernandina Beach Fire Department in 2010. After returning to Northeast Florida he worked as a Paramedic at Baptist Medical Center in Fernandina Beach, a Paramedic Instructor at St. Vincent’s Hospital in Jacksonville as well as a Firefighter, Paramedic and Engineer for the City of Fernandina Beach. In 2013 he was recognized as Firefighter of the year. He supporting local fundraising efforts from manning the phones for the Wolfson’s Children’s Challenge to spearheading local charity events in Fernandina Beach. Chett enjoyed Scuba Diving, his membership at Club 14 Fitness and his rescue pets, Stormy and Karma.   

He is preceded in death by a maternal grandfather, Art Conner

He leaves behind, his father, Carey O’Neal Lyncker Jr., Fernandina Beach, FL, his mother, Trudy Lea Knight (Michael), Jacksonville, FL, his paternal grandparents, Carey and Carolyn Lyncker, Welaka, FL, his maternal grandfather,Carlton Louie Johnson (Judi), Fernandina Beach, FL, his maternal grandmother, Mildred “Kathy” Luck, Jacksonville, FL, a brother, Carey O. Lyncker III “Trey”, Tallahassee, FL, a sister, Haley Lyncker, Fernandina Beach, FL, a step sister, Trish Knight, Nashville, TN, aunts and uncles, Lisa Wickstrom, Lynn Conner, Mark Lyncker, Jimmy Conner, loving cousins and special friend, Caleb Eiriksson “G4 for Life”.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Friday, May 13, 2016 in the Burgess Chapel of Oxley-Heard. Chett will be laid to rest in Bosque-Bello Cemetery. His family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home.
