
Ms. Wanda Faye Carter, age 67, of Jacksonville, passed away on Tuesday, May 10, 2016 at the home of her daughter.
Born in Alma, GA she was the daughter of Doris Carter Murray and the late Elmer A. Murray. At an early age her family moved to the Springfield area of Jacksonville. Wanda was a graduate of Andrew Jackson High School, Class of 1966. As a lifelong resident of Jacksonville, her most recent employment was as a Manager with Lil Champ at the store located at Yellow Bluff and New Berlin Road.
Wanda enjoyed crocheting afghans and won Best in Show for the past 4 years at the Jacksonville Agricultural Fair. Her passion was her children and grandchildren and was an avid fan of Johnny Depp.
Wanda is preceded in death by her father, Elmer A. Murray and a daughter, April.
She leaves behind her children, Duane Peanut Warren (Christina Owens), Jacksonville, FL, twins, Melissa Missy Harcus (Charlie), Jacksonville, FL and Richard Warren (Victoria), St. Marys, GA, her mother Doris Murray and stepmother, Danny Murray, her brother Scottie Murray (Susan), all of Yulee, FL, ten grandchildren, four great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 pm on Saturday, May 14, 2016 in the Burgess Chapel of Oxley-Heard with Reverend Dillon Thomas officiating. Her family will receive friends on Saturday, at the funeral home, from 1:00 pm until the hour of the service. Wanda will be laid to rest in Hughes Cemetery.
